Next week...
...ooh, tons. Angel: Revelations
#4 continues Angel's revised origin story. More
Napoleonic fighting in New Exiles #10. The
Banshee arc wraps up in Ultimate X-Men #97.
"Old Man Logan" continues in Wolverine #68.
Siryn guest stars in Wolverine: First Class #6.
X-Force #6 completes the first arc of mass slaughter.
And Professor X confronts Cyclops in X-Men: Legacy
#215.
Late
Due 19 April 2006: The
original shipping date for Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk
#3. Lest we forget. Issue #3 slipped initially
from 19 April to 17 May, and several weeks after missing
that date too, it was finally rescheduled for 12 July.
Then it was rescheduled again, to 9 August. And then
it was 20 September. And then it was 25 October.
And then the week after that, they changed it to 1 November.
Then, in mid-October, they moved it to 27 December.
And then, in December, they pulled it from the schedules
altogether. Allegedly, Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk
will be rescheduled for a later date - although frankly, I
don't believe it for a second - so I'm leaving it on the
list for now.
Upcoming
Due 3 September 2008:
The new Deadpool series starts, but Marvel's
catalogue says it's a Marvel Universe title, not an X-book,
and I'll take their word for it. King-Size Cable
Spectacular #1 is a one-shot focussing on Bishop.
NYX: No Way Home #2 continues the comeback of the
series that surely wasn't all that controversial, was it?
Wolverine: Saudade #1 is a one-shot by some European
creators. X-Men Origins: Beast continues the
recap stories. X-Men: Manifest Destiny #1 is an
anthology book about minor X-Men characters (oh, and Iceman)
arriving in San Francisco.
There's also X-Men: Return
of Magik, a reprint book containing some Illyana
stories. Counter X vol 2 collects the
Generation X Counter-X stories (which are patchy, but
have their moments).
Due 10 September 2008:
Civil War: House of M #1 - surely the result of a bet
of some kind. But it's a story about how Magneto took
over the world in the House of M timeline.
GeNext #5 concludes Chris Claremont's miniseries about
some alternate future X-Men. New Exiles #11 has
Sabretooth fighting Madame Hydra. In the Marvel
Universe proper, Secret Invasion: X-Men #2 continues
the X-books' token contribution to this year's crossover.
Ultimate X-Men / Ultimate Fantastic Four Annual #1 is
actually the first half of a two-part miniseries - the other
half comes out in a fortnight. And X-Men: Magneto -
Testament #1 is the first part of a Magneto origin
miniseries.
Wolverine: Origins vol 5
collects the Deadpool arc from issues #21-25, while X-Men
vs Apocalypse vol 2 collects more crossover stories from
the dodgy "Ages of Apocalypse" storyline.
Due 17 September 2008:
Astonishing X-Men #27 has part three of Warren Ellis'
"Ghost Box" storyline. Uncanny X-Men #502 sees
the team face the Hellfire Cult. X-Factor #35
introduces the Karma Project. X-Men: First Class
#16 has an Iceman/Human Torch team-up story. And
Young X-Men #6 is a self-contained story which finally
pins down the team roster.
X-Factor: The Only Game in
Town collects issues #28-32, together with the Quick
and the Dead one-shot.
Due 24 September 2008:
Angel: Revelations #5 continues the origin
miniseries. Ultimate Fantastic Four / Ultimate
X-Men Annual #1 is the other half of the two-part mini.
(You see, the names are the other way round on this one.
That's not going to be confusing at all, is it?)
Wolverine: First Class #7 guest stars the Soviet Super
Soldiers. Wolverine: Origins #28 is a prologue
to the crossover with X-Men: Legacy, while issue #216
of that title ties up its existing arc. Wolverine:
Roar is a double-sized one-shot by Duane Swierzynski and
Mike Deodato. And X-Force #7 begins a new
four-part storyline, "Old Ghosts."
Cable vol 1 collects the
book's first five issues; Uncanny X-Men: Divided We Stand
collects the eponymous arc from issues #495-499; and
Wolverine: First Class: The Rookie collects the first
four issues of that series plus (for some strange reason)
Incredible Hulk #181.
Due 1 October 2008:
Cable #7 begins a new arc, "Waiting for the End of the
World." Civil War: House of M #2 continues the
story of how Magneto conquered the world. New
Exiles #12 continues the fight against Madame Hydra and
her team. NYX: No Way Home #3 sees Kiden wonder
whether she can trust her dead father's spirit.
X-Men: Manifest Destiny #2 is another anthology title
about the San Francisco move. And X-Men: Original
Sin #1 begins a crossover between X-Men: Legacy
and Wolverine: Origins.
There's also a new collected
edition of the original 1980s Longshot miniseries.
Due 8 October 2008: Just
X-Men: Magneto - Testament #2, continuing the story
of young Magneto in Nazi Germany.
Due 15 October 2008:
Astonishing X-Men: Ghost Boxes #1 is the first part
of a two-issue tie-in miniseries to Astonishing X-Men
- which, just to confuse matters, doesn't ship this month.
Uncanny X-Men #503 continues the fight against the
Hellfire Cult. X-Factor #36 has more of the
Karma Project. X-Men: Worlds Apart #1 begins a
Storm miniseries. And Young X-Men #7 introduces
the new team line-up.
Marvel Masterworks: X-Men
vol 7 covers the cancellation period of the early 70s, which
means it's a bunch of guest appearances, and the Beast
stories from Amazing Adventures.
Due 22 October 2008:
New Exiles #13 features the end of existence.
Secret Invasion: X-Men #3 has the token Skrulls.
Wolverine: Manifest Destiny #1 begins a miniseries
about... well, about what Wolverine's up to while his solo
title is off in an alternate future, basically.
X-Men: Legacy #217 continues the "Original Sin"
crossover.
Ultimate X-Men vol 19
collects the current "Banshee" arc. X-Force vol
1 collects the first six issues.
Due 29 October 2008:
Civil War: House of M #3 continues the story of
Magneto's conquest of Earth. Giant-Size X-Men:
First Class #1 is a Hallowe'en story.
Wolverine: First Class #8 has more of the Soviet
Super-Soldiers. Wolverine: Origins #29
continues "Original Sin." And X-Force #8 has
the team fighting... the Vanisher? Well, that's what
it says.
X-Men: Messiah Complex
collects the titular crossover.
